FLIP BOOST¶
Flip Boost is a 4HP utility that provides two attenuverters, each followed by an amplifier.
The original need was to amplify weak audio signals. But if you're going to do an amplifier, you might as well add other fetures, that's why it became an amplified attenuverter.
Signal in -> Attenuverter -> Amplifer -> Signal out
When nothing is plugged into input 1, there is 5V on it (adjustable).
Anatomy¶

Tuning¶
By default, the normalled voltage is +5V, but it can be adjusted with the INPUT REF trimpot behind the module.
The two amplifier gains are x3 by default and can be adjusted with teir respective GAIN trimpots.
How to adjust the INPUT REF ?¶
- Unpatch the input 1, and patch a cable on output 1. Measure the voltage at output 1.
- Switch off the boost switch (i.e. push it to the left).
- Turn the attenuverter knob completely to the right.
- Turn the INPUT REF trimpot until you get the desired voltage (e.g. 5V).
How to adjust the gain ?¶
Both channels can have independant gains.
- Unpatch the input.
- Switch off the boost switch (to the left)
- Get ready to measure the output.
- Adjust the attenuverter until you get 1V, 2V, or any ref voltage.
- Make super calculations to know how much you expect to get when the boost is enabled. If you want a 4x gain and your base voltage is 2V, then you will expect 8V at the output with boost enabled.
- Enable the boost switch.
- Adjust the gain trimpot until you get the expected voltage.
Patch ideas¶
- Audio signal amplification / saturation (clipping)
- Usual attenuverter use cases
- Standalone modulation control when nothing is plugged on the inputs
